Almost Half of Australian Financial Professionals Planning to Switch Employers in 2013

Almost half (46%) of Australia’s finance professionals are planning to change employers in 2013, according to a survey by online career site eFinancialCareers.

The survey revealed that the main factors motivating the desire to change employers are:

  • Lack of career progression with their current employer (54% of respondents)
  • Perception that other employers pay more (38%)
  • Frustration with a perceived lack of recognition for their achievements (33%).

George McFerran, managing director APAC for eFinancialCareers, commented that the desire to switch employers among Australian finance industry professionals compared favourably to other financial centres such as Singapore (64%) and Hong Kong (74%).

Two of the highest priorities (after remuneration) that would influence an employee’s decision to move to a new organisation included a supportive culture and good working environment. Almost two-thirds of respondents also reported a desire to keep flexible working arrangements at their new position.
